Nurse Katie’s Blog
Hi! My name is Katie and I am a nursing student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. This blog is meant to demonstrate my career goals, past experiences, and exemplify some of my work and accomplishments while illustrating my personality and interests.
Blogs I Like (Influential Individuals)
This first blog is one written by a variety of nurses from all around the country, that was created by Gail Ingram. She created her blog for nurses to get involved in online health conversations. The main goal of her blog is to correct common health-related misconceptions that are highly publicized in the media, provide professional opinions, and provide up-to-date research. Gail’s aim was at allowing online users to become “patients” with just a click of their finger. This blog has posts on many different topics relating to healthcare, ranging from food to beauty to parenting to fitness. These are aimed at giving advice about healthy living and proving health claims as true or false. I really like this blog and the health tips that are provided.

This is another one of my favorite blogs because it focuses on promoting positivity in the workplace and preventing workplace bullying, which is most common in the healthcare field. This blog is more aimed directly at healthcare providers, rather than those looking for health advice. This will definitely be helpful for the future when I am working, especially as a new nurse. I will be able to look to this blog for resources on how to handle certain situations and how-to bring positivity into the hospital every day that will reach coworkers and administrators.
